Cap. San Diego, Germany

Built in 1961, it is located in the Port of Hamburg, Germany. It is a museum ship, open to visitors and is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city.

Notable for its elegant, yacht-shaped silhouette, it is part of the series of six ships known as the “White Swans of the South Atlantic”. It was the last bulk carrier to be built before the advent of containerships, which began to carry out transport in the form of containers.

Built and launched by Deutsche Werft, in 1961, for Hamburg Süd, Cap. San Diego completed 120 trips between Germany and South America, between 1961 and 1981. Restored by enthusiasts and port workers, it is still in operation today , being the only museum ship currently sailing. It operates cruises on the Elbe River with up to 500 passengers, or rents its staterooms for overnight stays and its halls for events.

The replica of Cap. San Diego displayed in the park, built in 1:24 scale by Oficina Mini Mundo, measures 6.64m in length by 89.4cm in width. Its inauguration took place in 2011, in a ceremony attended by the Consul General of Germany in Brazil and the official representative of Hamburg Süd.
