Yerba Mate Factory: since 1930

Did you know that the most famous drink in Rio Grande do Sul comes from a tree? The leaves and stalks that are harvested from the yerba mate go through a dehydration process in an oven or sapeco.

Then they go for the punch. In it, pestles (which are moved by a water wheel) grind the leaves until they reach the right spot for chimarrão, a traditional drink appreciated by the gauchos. This tradition dates back to 1930.
