Right in the heart of the city of Gramado is the São Pedro Mother Church. The construction inspired by the Roman architectural style draws attention for its beauty and today is one of the most photographed sights. The church is 860 meters high, and the tower is 46 meters.
Patron Saint: The Mother Church took 8 years to be completed. The inauguration took place on June 29, 1942, the same date that St. Peter’s Day is celebrated, the patron saint of gramadenses Catholics. The square in front of the church is very beautiful. On one side, immense flower beds covered with flowers give a very special color to the pictures of the church’s facade. On the other, there are life-size statues of the 12 apostles. At night the church and the square gain new contours because of the lighting that was planned to enhance the space, which guarantees beautiful photos.
Visits: The church opens daily from 7:30AM to 9PM, and is frequented by the community and also by many tourists who go there to meet the place, take photographs and to pray. Its altar is always adorned with many flowers and the church usually receives a religious themed decoration on dates such as Easter and Christmas. The entrance is free.
