Santo Antônio de Lisboa

This is the oldest community on the island and still preserves the Azores architecture and handicrafts (where the immigrants came from). The Church of Nossa Senhora das Necessidades, completed in 1754, is one of the coolest examples of baroque in southern Brazil and one of the main points of the neighborhood. Here also takes place the Festa do Divino Espírito Santo, celebrated since 1754.
